Today J and M started watching the Story of US. We decided to do a unit study using the DVD and Teachers Guide. This will add to our US History requirement.
Today was about Rebels - From Jamestown to Plymouth, early settlers fight for survival. Tobacco sows the seeds of opportunity in the South, the North becomes a powerhouse of trade, and the American spirit is born. Tension, taxation and resistance explode into war as the rebels turn against their colonial masters.
J also completed episode 3 and 4 in the Great Courses - Understanding the World's Greatest Structures: Science and Innovation from Antiquity to Modernity.
Thursday (12/8)
Co-op day. More OM, Mindstorm/Lego Robotics, Photography and Dinner Show classes. The kids are really settling into the co-op now. Unfortunately we are taking a break after this week until January.
Photography Week 5
Friday (12/9)
Story of US continued today. Today's episode covered Westward - Trailblazing pioneers set out to conquer the vast continent west of the mountains, but find the land already claimed. Wagon trains meet danger and hardship on the road to unprecedented riches in California's golden hills. Along the Mississippi, the steamboat ushers in a new era.
J also watched episodes 5 and 6 in the Great Courses - Understanding the World's Greatest Structures: Science and Innovation from Antiquity to Modernity and more Rosetta Stone French lessons.
